About

Cello!

My name is Billie.   I became an official cellist in January 2009. Official meaning I got a cello.  Does that make me still a beginner? Yes, for the most part.  I have learned to play some intermediate music!  What I basically want this blog to be is somewhat of an online journal of my journey of progression as a cellist.

My passion for music started around the time I was 7ish years old.  At that time, I was taking lessons to learn to play piano.  I don’t play piano anymore but according to my college degree, I am piano proficient!  Next came the flute in 6th grade (1995).  I still play the flute and have a big passion for it.  Then comes the cello. (Notice I didn’t say finally, who knows what else I may pick up.)  After graduation from college, I got a nice job that ends at 5 p.m. everyday.  No weekends, sweet!  I practice my flute, exercise, cook, watch TV,  and  pondered what else could I do after 5 p.m.  If you haven’t noticed, I love a challenge.  In thinking of a challenge I thought to myself  ”What is something I love, yet completely different?”  And then the light bulb came on…Cello!  It’s music, it’s a string instrument, and it’s in bass clef.  I haven’t done neither, well except piano has bass clef but remember, I’m only proficient.  Something completely out of the box for me.

Now you’ve read the story behind the story.
